was born out of a challenge
I set for myself
to stay small
Having been called
too much
too honest
too analytical
too emotional
too fucken some thing
So I learned
to put myself
in a box
and compartmentalize
my
self
away
(to at least some degree)
I was often still
too bulshy
too cocky
too quick to judge
or change direction
too flighty
or too in your face
Too much
in one direction
or another
I could never work it out
so after a while
I stopped trying
And when I started painting
three years ago
I started big
bold
and deep
But here
I challenged myself
to stay small
These pieces
are the babies
born from the box
I tried
and failed
to live within
their energy so rich
it will not be contained
within
its minuscule sized box
They emit a frequency
you can only truly feel
in their presence
and on the perfect wall
they will transform the vibe
of an entire space
I can’t wait to see
where they land
the stories they will weave

As the oh so fortunate buyer of these two in one works, I am so loving living with this abstract duo whose depth, texture and colour offer new inspiration every morning and evening. I love your reflection on this piece and how it speaks to the transformative, or living, nature of the work as it hangs from the wall upon which it lives. It feels like you experience them as I do, as portals of transformation that imbibe and imbue the transitions we all are going through at this time. That you continue to see new things emerging within the work long after you first looked mirrors my experience of them too. I live with most of my work before it ends up in a gallery, show or on the wall of it’s new home. My appreciation for what has emerged through the creative process deepens with time too. It’s almost as if the energy of whats available lurks awaiting our readiness to receive their depth. In this way they grow along with us. I love hearing that you’re feeling that too.
