A rookie finds her way
until she gets lost
turns a different direction
keeps going
one bold move
after another
testing
trying
failing
learning
trying something different
so frustrating
wandering
in the messy middle
going up and down
in circles
somewhere
after she started
and before she thought
she had finished
after paint had dried
she returned
to find
the painting
had finished it’s tale
the story complete
before
she had told the tale
she thought she was to tell
so
seemed the tale
she was trying to tell
wasn’t the tale
that wanted to be told
and ain’t that the way life goes
This painting
like all my paintings
had a mind
of it’s own
cheeky mind

We sense
in the unravelling
of the mess
we got ourselves in
that all is broken
but what doesn’t belong
cannot remain
and what seems unrepairable
is already
repairing itself
just like nature
Either way
it’s a dance
there’s always a third way too
